Where our Maidstone home care story began
Elizabeth’s Rose was founded by husband‑and‑wife team Russell and Abbie, who shared a simple belief: that care at home should feel human, dignified, and deeply respectful. We wanted to build a home care service where people are treated as individuals, not tasks on a rota.
The name Elizabeth’s Rose came from a moment that means a great deal to us. Russell’s grandfather — a lifelong landscape gardener — helped us choose it, knowing it was the name of a real rose. The name also carries meaning for both sides of our family: Russell’s great‑grandmother and Abbie’s great aunt were both called Elizabeth.
Russell’s great‑grandmother Elizabeth was known in her community for her warmth and outgoing nature. She worked in the local post office, where neighbours often came to her for advice — sometimes leaving with their marriages mended and their spirits lifted. She loved her garden, especially the fuchsias she grew and shared locally, and she was always impeccably dressed, her pearl necklace never far from sight. Her kindness, strength, and instinct to support others continue to inspire the way we provide care today.
Abbie’s great aunt Elizabeth — known affectionately as Lizzy — brought her own kind of strength and beauty to the family story. She moved from the island of St Helena to the UK at just sixteen, carrying with her a deep belief that family always comes first. Lizzy took great pride in her appearance; she loved her jewellery, often wearing it in joyful abundance, and she would never leave the house without her hair done and a full face of makeup. Her sense of dignity, self‑respect, and the importance she placed on presenting herself with care echo strongly in the way we support people to feel like themselves, no matter their age or circumstances.
We still have the Elizabeth’s Rose plant Russell’s grandfather gave us. It’s become a quiet reminder of why we do what we do: care at home rooted in family, dignity, and love.

What we believe
Our story is shaped by a few simple but non‑negotiable beliefs about how care should feel.
Dignity First
Everyone we support is an individual with a history, preferences, and a voice that matters.
Warmth in every visit
Care is more than tasks. It’s tone of voice, unhurried moments, shared smiles, and the feeling of being genuinely seen.
Safety with sensitivity
We take safeguarding seriously, but we never forget the person behind the care plan.
Consistency and trust
Familiar faces matter. We build small, consistent teams so relationships can grow.
Listening as a practice
We listen — to the person, to their family, and to the small details that make each day feel more “them.”
Why our Maidstone home care team cares the way we do.
We’re proud to be a trusted home care provider in Maidstone. Our mission reflects the values that shape our team, our training, and the way we support every client with dignity and independence.
Our mission is simple: to support every person with dignity, independence, and genuine human warmth. We listen first, act thoughtfully, and shape care around what truly matters to you and your family.
We explain our full approach to care on our How Our Care Works page.

A message from our founders
Care is personal. We never take lightly the trust it involves to invite someone into your home or the home of someone you love.
Our promise is simple: we will always treat that trust with the seriousness and tenderness it deserves. We will be honest with you, we will listen to you, and we will keep working to make our care better — because you deserve nothing less.
